EARTH HOUR (7TH EDITION)
Unite to Protect the Planet. In 2007, WWF-Australia asked Sydney residents to show their support for the fight against climate change in the first ever Earth Hour event. It showed that everyone, from children to business leaders and politicians, has the power to change the world in which they live. In Sydney, Australia 2.2 million people and more than 2,000 companies turned off their lights for an hour to take a stand against climate change.
With the invitation to “switch off the lights” extended to everyone, Earth Hour has quickly become an annual global event. In French Polynesia, a candlelit dinner is organized in all the bars, hotels, restaurants, snack bars and trailers, in all the archipelagos.
