In several categories, speed races are staged for V1 (single paddler), V3, V6 and V16 canoes at the Tehoro beach in Mataiea, followed by a marathon race between Tahiti and Moorea. Then come the famous traditional races for sail-fitted outrigger canoes, not forgetting the traditional sports or Tuaro Maohi with disciplines such as coconut climbing, large stone raising, coconut husking… All the athletes must be dressed in a Oreo and wear flower crowns (lei).
